The opening set belonged entirely to the home side. USC Münster came out firing, with Mittelblockerin Juliane Schröder and Barbara Wezorke causing constant problems through the middle with quick attacks. The Green Kalinen raced to an 8-4 lead and never looked back. Even three consecutive aces from VCW's Květa Grabovská could only reduce the deficit to 17-24 before María Schlegel touched the Wiesbaden block to seal the set 25-17 for the hosts.

Wiesbaden regrouped quickly in the second set. Head coach Benedikt Frank kept Pia Leweling on the court as second outside hitter, and after an early 3-6 deficit, the tactical substitution of Lena Große Scharmann for Liza Kastrup on the diagonal shifted momentum. The visitors ground their way back into the set, with Anna Wruck firing an ace to take a 14-13 lead. Münster's unforced errors gifted Wiesbaden easy points, and Liza Kastrup capped the comeback with a sharp cross-court winner through the double block to tie the match at one set apiece.

Set three saw Münster reassert their dominance. The home team cranked up the service pressure, repeatedly disrupting Wiesbaden's reception. Frank brought veteran passer Tanja Großer back into the rotation at 0-5, but the damage was done. Despite several contentious refereeing decisions favouring the hosts, USC comfortably took the set 25-21 to move ahead 2-1.

The fourth set was the most dramatic of the evening. Wiesbaden started aggressively and built a commanding 12-7 lead, extended to 14-8 after another Wruck ace. But Münster refused to fold, mounting a stunning 6-0 run to level the scores at 17-17. The match then took a worrying turn when Liza Kastrup went down injured after an attacking move at 21-23, replaced by Lena Große Scharmann. Yet the visitors showed tremendous composure: their block-defence unit saved two Münster set points before converting their own set ball at 26-24 to force a tiebreak.

In the deciding fifth set, Wiesbaden seized control and never let go. Two consecutive block points gave the visitors a 6-3 lead at the switchover. Laura Künzler was unstoppable, repeatedly punishing the Münster defence with powerful attacks. After an ace from Anna Wruck made it 10-14, Künzler delivered the knockout blow — a ferocious spike that sealed the set 15-11 and the match 3-2.

Künzler finished as the match's top scorer with an extraordinary 35 points, earning her the gold MVP award alongside silver MVP Juliane Schröder of USC Münster.

"Whoever takes their chances wins the games in this league. In the last two matches we couldn't do that. Today it was different. This win feels really good. We can be proud of this," said VCW head coach Benedikt Frank after the match.

For USC Münster, the defeat was a missed opportunity after dominating large stretches of the match. Head coach Lisa Thomsen's side showed flashes of brilliance but could not sustain the consistency needed to close out the contest.

The result saw Wiesbaden climb to seventh place with their first road win of the campaign, while Münster remained in ninth, still searching for consistency in the early stages of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season.

VC Wiesbaden returned home to host promoted side VC Neuwied 77 on 30 October 2021, while USC Münster travelled to face Ladies in Black Aachen.
